Anxiety Therapy
Are You Struggling With Anxiety?
Do you or your child suffer from the effects of constant stress, fear, or ruminations?
As a result, is it difficult for you to relax and feel at ease?
Are you tired of these symptoms impacting your daily routine, work performance, relationships, and overall quality of life?
Anxiety is an incredibly common experience among adults and teens alike. It’s normal to feel stressed at times or worry about what will happen in the future, but when these symptoms begin to appear frequently to the point of compromising your daily life, it may be time to consider treatment for anxiety.
What Is Your Experience?
If you suffer from anxiety, it’s possible you’re experiencing the consequences in every area of your life, from your mood to your interactions to how you feel in your body. Anxiety can be visceral, producing uncomfortable physical symptoms like muscle tension, headaches, digestive issues, and chronic pain. In some cases, anxiety becomes so intense that a panic attack takes place, causing sweaty palms, shortness of breath, and feelings of impending doom.
It's understandable that you would want to avoid certain people, places, or situations that trigger these feelings. But side-stepping certain settings often leads to an avoidance of everything in your life, including the fun or exciting stuff that you’d otherwise look forward to. Soon enough, you might not feel comfortable doing normal, everyday things like running errands, meeting up with friends, or participating in the activities that once gave your life a sense of purpose. This can be especially true for teens and adults who’ve developed social anxiety, which involves a deep sense of embarrassment and fear of being judged.
Our therapists understand how frustrating anxiety is, which is why we want to offer you transformative skills and perspectives to help make stress and uncertainty more manageable. Working together in therapy, weHave any questions? Send us a message!
You Are Not Alone In Your Experience Of Anxiety
There are many reasons why anxiety might show up in our lives. Some of us have a genetic predisposition to an anxious mindset while others may have experienced a sudden or shocking event that has left us on-edge ever since. Not to mention, all of us have to coexist together in a busy, chaotic world, creating endless opportunities for feelings of fear, worry, and insecurity.
According to the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH), anxiety disorders affect over 19 percent of American adults and nearly 32 percent of American teens. [1] These statistics demonstrate that many adolescents eventually overcome anxiety but that it nevertheless remains a huge issue among teens. Especially since the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic, anxiety has been on the rise, exacerbating the stress and worry many of us had already felt.
The good news is that anxiety is treatable. Using a combination of mindfulness and evidence-based modalities, our counselors will help you tune into your anxiety and develop life-changing skills for managing distress and discomfort.
Anxiety Treatment Through Jessica Bolden Psychotherapy Group
Therapy begins with a thorough evaluation to help us assess your anxiety symptoms. During this process, your therapist will learn more about how they can individualize the treatment process to your needs and whether medical intervention to prescribe anxiety medication is needed. You’ll also be given more information about anxiety and how it impacts the nervous system.
From there, we will begin to incorporate effective, evidence-based counseling approaches to change the way you experience anxiety in your mind and body. Mindfulness, grounding, and relaxation techniques will be introduced to help you become aware and slow down your stress response. Then, cognitive reframing will be used to help you expand your window of tolerance and escape a catastrophic, all-or-nothing mindset.
The methods we use in treatment for anxiety and panic attacks are effective for all of our clients, regardless of age, and can be used in online therapy appointments. We have watched the transformations that can take place when clients become aware of their anxiety and what they can do to manage it in real-time. Our therapists know which tools to offer in the healing process.
Constant anxiety does not have to be your normal baseline. Though you may have lived with chronic fear and worry for as long as you can remember, relief is possible. Our effective, holistic approach to therapy can provide you or your child with lifelong tools for navigating and overcoming anxiety.
Still Unsure If It’s Time For You To Seek Therapy For Anxiety?
Is medication a part of anxiety treatment?
In some cases, anxiety is caused by chemical and/or hormonal imbalances that can be recalibrated with medication like selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs). These medications can be helpful and even necessary when treating certain types of anxiety disorders in treatment.
That said, our therapists never pressure clients either way on the issue of anxiety medication. We understand that some people would rather learn coping tools and explore other treatment alternatives. Furthermore, we are not licensed to prescribe, so we refer out for medical intervention anyway.
How long does therapy take?
Our counseling approach centers around each client’s specific anxiety symptoms, allowing us to individualize the therapy process. Focusing on how you are experiencing anxiety right now—rather than spending so much time figuring out where your anxiety comes from—can help you develop coping strategies more quickly and thus see more immediate results.
Ultimately, we want the therapeutic process to work for you, so we will go at your pace, moving as quickly or slowly as you want.
Isn’t therapy a major expense?
Therapy is an investment in yourself, meaning that while there is an expense, there is also the return on investment of more awareness and a higher quality of life as anxiety symptoms dissipate.
That said, we aim to make therapy as accessible as possible, and many of our therapists offer cost-effective options for anxiety treatment. Contact us to find out more.
